Happy Friday Peers! I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving. I was fortunate enough to spend the day with my family and eat two dinners with both families! But with the last crumb gobbled up it is time to move forward. And in my book, today marks the day to turn on the cheery music, pull out the Christmas decorations, start shopping the Black Friday sales and best yet, today marks the first day of the 2011 Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights Extravaganza in Torrance!!
While living in southern California has its perks of beautiful weather, many people think that means a lack of a traditional Christmas atmosphere. Torrance’s spectacular, almost 40 year tradition, Sleepy Hollow lights prove those grinchs wrong. This is one of my family’s favorite traditions and It runs through mid-January. The neighbors in the community all participate to create one of the best displays of Christmas lights you’ve ever seen! Anyone who moves to this area moves in knowing that they wont be ordering any pizza for weeks! The lights are lit for the public to enjoy Monday through Sunday from 5pm to 11pm. You can walk the streets to view the homes but I prefer to drive with my family while listening to Michael Buble, stopping on the corner to buy some hot chocolate and popcorn and to see the spectacular sights with my family from the comfort of our vehicle. The entrance is near the intersection of Anza Avenue and Calle Mayor.
If you haven’t driven through Sleepy Hollow I highly encourage you to go! Its so spectacular that it brings out the kid in you waiting for Christmas day hoping to see Santa…light em up!
