Oh, The Places You’ll Go: A New Spin on a Classic Graduation Gift

Oh, how time flies… another school year is coming to an end! I have always been super sentimental and now that I have two little ones, my sentimentality is in hyper-overdrive! I pack away special baby clothes, take a zillion pictures, save artwork and school work, write down memories and milestones and so on. I don’t want to forget a minute. (Well, maybe some minutes are better left forgotten, but you get my point – hee hee)!

I recently stumbled upon this adorable memory-collecting idea on my favorite new social media site and yours, Pinterest! I have always loved the book Oh, The Places You’ll Go by the one and only Dr. Seuss. The book’s message of pursuing your dreams and desires while overcoming adversities is what life is all about! It is a message that I strongly subscribe to and hope to instill in my children. For this reason and many others, giving a copy of the book Oh, The Places You’ll Go is a popular graduation gift for students of all ages. While simply giving a copy of the book is a sweet gesture, one crafty parent decided to take this gift to the next level by having her child’s teachers sign a special copy of the book. Each year, her child’s teacher signed this copy of Oh, The Places You’ll Go and, upon graduating high school, the parent gave this incredible special gift to her child. I know….dry your eyes! What a special personalized keepsake to give as a gift!

I was totally in love with this idea and headed straight over to the bookstore to pick up two squeaky clean copies of Oh, The Places You’ll Go so that I can start this tradition for my children! Get your own copies of Oh, The Places You’ll Go in the P2P Amazon store and create this special keepsake for your little ones!

I just picked up three copies at Barnes and Noble. Such a great idea! Now I just have to find a spot to keep them where the kids won’t find them, and I’ll remember where they are!
