Table Design For Eating Al Fresco!

Now that it is staying lighter later and the nights are warmer we have started eating dinner “al fresco.” Dining in the fresh air while enjoying good food and wine with friends is so fun and relaxing!

Creating the perfect outdoor atmosphere for dining al fresco begins with table decor. I love to use soft, clean, neutral colors with lots of candles to create a rich, romantic ambiance.

Summer time and beach living inspired the design for this table setting. I recently picked up a bag of shells from Michael’s Art Supply and used them to embelish the mason jar candle place cards. Raw sugar in the bottom of the mason jars gives the sandy effect. I combined with these with ocean-themed table runners, and placemats from Pottery Barn with monogrammed cloth napkins (also Pottery Barn) give the table an air of sophistication.

As the sun began to set, we enjoyed our dinner outdoors by the glow of the candlelight. I can’t wait for our next al fresco dining experience.

Comments

  1. What a beautiful summer table!

  2. Love love love this! This is gorgeous!

  3. I love tablescape ideas…because although I can manage the food part, the decor is not my specialty and I never know what to do! Also, a tip: look for mason jars at the Goodwill and Salvation Army – there are always tons, many of which are cool antique ones you can’t buy anymore, and the bonus is you’re recycling!

Everything in a Mason Jar is awesome! And the very first time I dined al fresco was in Monterey and it was fab!
