I have never been one for the scary, bloody and frightful kind of Halloween. I love the cute happy Casper the Ghost and pumpkin kind instead. When I think of Halloween I think of a street filled with dressed up kids excited over their pillow cases full of candy…yes, my brothers and I used to use pillow cases and would fill then up!
In our house, we like treating our new puppy, Jackie, as the littlest kid in the family. So, in all fairness, she got her special day of dress up and trick or treating with her four-legged friends on the block.
Jackie’s Pup’kin Pumpkin Treats:
Recipe adapted from SimmerTillDone
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups brown rice flour or whole wheat flour
Mix pumpkin and eggs together. Combine the dry milk, salt and flour in a separate bowl then sift into the pumpkin mixture. Knead the dough together then roll it out into a 1/4″ – 1/2″ thin layer. Use your favorite cookie cutters and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I found my doggie bone cookie cutter at Sur La Table.
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes and then turn the bones over and bake for another 20 minutes.
